Hello! I am a small cap daytrader.
This is the story of my trading journey since 2009.
Does it resonate with you?
"Statistics say 95% of traders lose. I strive to be the remaining 5%"

I'm Jeremy, living in Singapore, and I have been trading since 2009. Back then, working in a securities firm pipped my interest in trading, and with most people who took up trading, the lure of "easy" money pulled me in. One of my first trades on a penny stock won me $3k, which was equivalent to my monthly salary at that time. I thought I had struck it rich!

Sooner or later though, everyone will have the same experience. The "secret" I thought I had discovered turned out to be mere luck, and the same penny stock would eventually crashed and I lost my profits and more.

Undeterred by this, in the next few years I starting reading books on trading, fundamentals, technical, every book claimed to be the only book I ever need to read. I tried many strategies with varying success but found none that suits me. Nonetheless all these reading did build up my knowledge. And from one book, I learnt about short selling.

In 2015, I opened my Interactive Broker account and started shorting both large caps and small caps. I experimented with news, buying on good news and shorting on bad news. If only its that straight-forward... Often I traded on my gut feeling. Its no different from going to a casino.

Then in 2021, I got caught in a trading 'pump and dump' scam! In one day, I lost USD220k, the bulk of my investing funds (all funded from my years of savings from my salary) were mostly wiped out. I was rattled. However, this event also triggered me to finally take action. My motto in life is "with every adversity plants the seed for future prosperity" (concise version from Napoleon Hill's quote). I decided from then on, I must stop my gambling ways of trading. I need to learn the right ways.

So I started to sign up for paid courses. I rationalised, rather than lose my money to the market, I might as well use some to pay for courses. Many courses didn't work out, but there were 2 that were game-changers. I didn't apply the strategies directly, but I was able to incorporate into my own strategy after many trial and error. And I started to focus mainly on shorting small cap stocks.

And my life changed forever. I recorded profits consistently. There were still losing days and months which is normal, but I now have the confidence to make it back, and I always did.

So finally, the reason I'm writing this is in the hope this website will give hope to like-minded aspiring daytraders as well. Patience is the key to everything in life, especially trading. And I understand most people won't have a large capital to start with, thus I will demonstrate starting with a $56k and $5k account.
